Events in Umbria

Umbria is also tied to its history and its origins via a number of annual festivals which enrich the art and culture of this region. Traditional jazz, classical and religious music, cinemas festivals, cultural and gastronomical festivals put Umbria at the top of the list for its numerous events that each year attract tourists and employers.

Music events

Electric Venus - Perugia (March) – the first international festival dedicated to female musical expression.
World Music - Perugia (May) – International festival of choirs and symphony orchestras and youth quartets.
Umbria Jazz - Perugia (July) – one of the most important jazz festivals in Europe
Umbrian Festival of Sacred Music - Umbria (September) – is one of the most prestigious Umbrian cultural events and sees the involvement of other locations in addition to the regional capital.
Umbria Music Fest - Todi (September) – international music festival. Dance, prose, classical concerts, jazz and above all the participation of the Umbrian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Umbria Jazz Winter - Orvieto (end December) – since 1993 Orvieto has been the location of the winter edition of the famous festival.

Zip.Orvieto Festival - Orvieto (June) – International stage for improvisation and live performing arts.
Festival of Two Worlds - Spoleto ( July) – Event with public performances of prose, lyrics, dance, concerts, art exhibitions and film reviews, which every year attracts a passionate public, and world attention.
Todi Arte Festival - Todi (July) – public performances of theatre, dance, visual arts, literary review and numerous other events.
International Festival of Street Theatre - Orvieto (September) – the streets of the historical centre of Orvieto fill with street artists from all over the world giving way to imagination, art and fun.

Gastronomical events

Open Wine Cellars - various locations (May) – the most important event held in Italy with wine, people and the region as protagonists.
Towns and Farms - traveling event (June) – a journey through the region which in one work of art merges good cuisine, unspoilt landscapes and numerous art masterpieces.
Wines of the World - Spoleto (June) – sweet, dry, sparkling and all other possible types of wine are shown in a setting of events, encounters and continuing entertainment.
Eurochocolate - Perugia (October) – a fair dedicated to lovers of the food of the Gods, every year it transforms the city of Perugia into an animated patisserie.
Orvieto Flavours - Orvieto (October) – national gastronomical food festival to discover our tradition of fine dining.
Wine Festival - Montefalco (December) – gastronomical review dedicated to great dessert, sweet, matured and liqueur wines (national and foreign).

Folklore events

Festival of the Dove - Orvieto (June) – the festival introduced by the Monaldeschi family, it has been celebrated on Whitsunday since 1404.
Quintana Tournament - Foligno (June) – medieval jousting festival with knights representing the districts of the towns. A majestic historical procession with around 600 people parading in costume.
Water Festival - Piediluco (June-July) – re-enacts the celebration of the summer solstice which in Piediluco was celebrated with rites, lighting of fires and a water parade of allegorical craft.

Other events

Perugia Science Fest - Perugia (September) – festival for everyone of all ages which brings together national and international scientists.
International Festival of Animated Characters - Perugia - (September) - one of the most important in Europe, dedicated to all types of puppet theatre, from creative and microtheatre to great theatrical productions.
